History:
This
is a very rare and very correct F5000 car originally
delivered to Sir Nicholas Williamson in June of
1969 as a yellow M10A and was raced in numerous British
Hill climb events. Williamson won the 1970 Shell
British Hill climb Championship in the car after
converting it to a M10B. The car was sold to Jack
Le Fort in 1973 and raced in sprints and speed
trials and then sold to David Hipperson who used
it little until 1985 when it was sold to Tony Hildebrand
who raced the car at various F5000 club events
in the UK and was later crashed by Bill Hall
of Sheffield, UK and had the tub repaired and painted
in McLaren orange. It was then sold in pieces
to J. Venables and J. David, who shipped the car
to the US for the first time and had it rebuilt by
Jim Eccles in Lakeland, Florida. The car has
subsequently been completely restored using new or
rebuilt components with driver safety in mind, but
maintaining a strong original configuration and livery.
This amazing car still has its very special Chevy
engine that was used by Sir Williamson to win
the Championship in 1970! The car is very well-documented
with numerous letters and photos from most
of the previous owners, along with magazine articles
and HSCC Identity Form and receipts for work.
The original chassis plate and all period documentation
are included and make this a rare and very
valuable open wheel race car, eligible for any vintage
open wheel event worldwide.
Condition:
A
nearly perfect car in every respect.
Car has had a ground-up restoration over
the past two years, and has been recently maintained
by Louis Shefchek of J&L Fabrications. All new suspension, brakes, fasteners, bearings,
seals, everything crack checked and replaced as required.
All original parts are included with car. Fresh 302
CID engine with 450HP +/- and downdraft Weber carbs.
No detail was overlooked in the restoration of this
car, but there are visible signs of original patina
in places. New wheels, paint, wings, and a
rebuilt Hewland gearbox make this car vintage race
ready and a very desirable car for the experienced
vintage car driver and historically-minded
open wheel collector. |
